The artistic approach of studio substrata is based on surveying and building upon the ever-present sub-layer of knowledge. The amount of information formed throughout our existence is substantial. This sense of underlying knowledge accompanies us as we explore open ideas and dogmatic ideologies that have shaped the world and architecture as we know it. We then use observed data to articulate a way of working in which place, time and the individual are at the heart of its meaning.

We are based in Rīga and Basel. This platform is a work in progress and will change along the way.
